The Phone Balance Challenge: Day 3


This is my phone balance as of 7am this morning.
At last, a decrease. $38.23 to be exact.
Mainly due to streaming Bassdrive for most of the day. This did seem to be an efficient method to drain my balance, but not too great (it cost me maybe $24 for 6 hours of streaming i think).
I also installed SymTorrent for my phone, and after many failed attempts at downloading and installing, it finally worked (note, if anyone has a Nokia e series phone, certificate signing is pretty strict, so you need to turn it off). But downloading torrents over 3g doesn't work...after getting my hopes up...maybe torrent sharing is blocked by 3, as I got it to work via wi-fi.... Anyway, I've had to settle for streaming. Anything. It sort of goes against the rules I set though. I don't actually get to keep what I stream. I tried recording what I was listening to but no joy. 
And there's another limitation which is also pretty frustrating: battery life. I was downloading and streaming yesterday (as well as calling and texting) from 8am. By 5pm I was getting low battery warning beeps. By 10pm though my phone still functioned and I was able to text and surf the web.

    Mate you must have a lot of free time on your hands! We need more photos of food from over there!!

    Photos of food??? Haha hmmm, ok, i'll see what i can do!
    Basically i have 2 hours free each day as my journey to work is an hour long. It's also 95% over ground, which gives me a lot of time to play with my phone.

An unusual shopping experience

A few days ago I was in a shopping centre near to Syndey Aquarium. I walked into a clothes shop there and started to look at the sunglasses they had on sale. A female member of sales staff walked past me, smiled and said the obligatory "hi, how are you. Want to try any sunnies on?". Standard reply of "oh,...no,...no thanks, I'm just looking thanks". The Dangers of Washing Up

Washing dirty dishes is a pretty tedious task, it causes arguments between couples, family disharmony about whose turn it is (to my younger sister who had an S in her name: if your name has an S in it then you only do washing up with an S in the days), friction among friends sharing a flat and one of them using 5 pans to cook bacon and egg, the point is escaping me....pretty much everyone would like to not do it. Pretty much everyone needs an excuse. This is a good excuse. A big, hairy, fuck-off spider in the corner of your kitchen. You can even see what looks like a black and white little face that looks like Papa Lazarou from The League of Gentlemen.  "Oh my....fuck me dead...what the fffffuuu..." was my reaction. Pretty colourful lanaguage looking back on it, but I was arse-clenchingly surprised. I'm not even that scared of spiders. A long way to get somewhere

A few days ago I was thinking about this journey that I am doing; Moscow via Lisbon via Maldova and then through China, and I now sort of wish that I had chosen to go to Russia from Portugal by land. It would have been pretty cool to do a journey like that just with the use of train. I could then be one of those people that can say that they have travelled most of the globe just by land. I could possibly get my own TV show and book series. Michael Palin did. He was already famous, so he had a head start, but he's just an example. Phileas Fog is another person, albeit a fictional character. He went "around the world in 80 days". He's even got his own line of crisps now. Yeah. Circumnavigating the world does definitely have benefits. It would be something quite special to tell people about.
